A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Ojerinde yesterday handed over a newly built Maternity and Pediatric Center to the Oyo State Government at the Igboho General Hospital in Oorelope Local Government Area.
The center, built and equipped by the Olumide Ojerinde Foundation, was formally handed over to the Oyo State Hospital Management Board as a gift to the general hospital.
Hon. Olumide Ojerinde, in his keynote address, emphasized that the motivation behind the donation was not political but rather a desire to give back to the community and improve healthcare services. He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his support and encouragement, saying that politics should not affect love and care for one another.
“This center is a testament to our commitment to the well-being of our people,” Hon. Ojerinde said. “We believe that every individual deserves access to quality healthcare, and we are proud to be a part of this effort.”
Dr. Akin Fagbemi, representing Governor Makinde, thanked Hon. Ojerinde for the donation, promising that the government would make good use of the facility to promote healthcare delivery in Oyo State.
“We are grateful for this generous gift,” Dr. Fagbemi said. “This center will go a long way in reducing the suffering of our people due to insufficient healthcare facilities and services in the area.”
Hon. Jacob Ogundiran Olawale, Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, praised Hon. Ojerinde’s kind gesture and encouraged others to follow in his footsteps.
“This is a challenge to all of us to contribute to the development of our community,” Hon. Ogundiran said. “We must work together to build a better future for ourselves and our children.”
Oba (Dr) Joel Olawuwo Olasorogan, Alepata of Igboholand, attributed the good deed of Hon. Olumide Ojerinde to godliness and his inheritance from his bloodline.
“Hon. Olumide Ojerinde has shown himself to be a true leader with the love of his community at heart,” Oba Olasorogan said. “We must all strive to emulate his example and contribute to the growth and development of our community.”
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and community members. The center is expected to reduce the suffering of the people due to insufficient healthcare facilities and services in the area.
“This is a milestone in the history of Oorelope Local Government,” Hon. Ojerinde said. “We are proud to be a part of this effort and we look forward to continued collaboration with the state government to promote healthcare delivery in Oyo State.”
