A National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan has again adjourned the suit challenging non-payment of gratuities and pensions of Oyo State retired primary school teachers till the 14th of January, 2019.
Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Branch had dragged Oyo State Government to court for non-payment of gratuities and pensions amounting to over forty-two billion Naira.
Counsel to the defendant, a Director in the State Ministry of Justice, Mrs. F. B. Segun Olakojo prayed the court for another adjournment.
Mrs. Segun Olakojo said this became necessary as negotiations between the state government and pensioners to settle the matter out of court had reached advanced stage.
Counsel to the claimant, Alhaji Lasun Sanusi, SAN, equally sought for adjournment to enable both parties to conclude on whether to employ out of court settlement on the matter.
Justice J.D. Peters therefore adjourned the case till 14th of January, 2019.
