The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, has used the birthday of the Ibadan North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Seun Olufade, to spotlight what he described as a growing culture of effective grassroots governance in the council area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bashorun Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, said Olufade’s leadership has become a reference point for responsive and people-driven administration at the local government level in Oyo State.
Rather than focusing solely on the celebration, the LGSC chairman noted that Olufade’s tenure has reflected the importance of strong institutions, teamwork with career local government officers and deliberate policies aimed at improving service delivery to residents.
According to the Ogbomoso-born PDP chieftain, the Ibadan North chairman has demonstrated that local governments can be engines of development when leadership is inclusive, accountable and community-oriented.
He highlighted Olufade’s engagement with youths, traditional institutions and community leaders as a key factor in sustaining peace and cooperation within the council, adding that such harmony is critical for implementing development programmes.
“Hon. Seun Olufade’s administration underscores the true spirit of grassroots governance — leadership that listens, engages and delivers. His approach continues to strengthen public confidence in local government administration,” Akinwole said.
The LGSC chairman offered prayers for renewed strength, wisdom and sound health for Olufade as he marks a new year, expressing confidence that his experience will translate into even greater contributions to local governance.
He also urged residents and stakeholders in Ibadan North to see the birthday celebration as a call to deepen collaboration with the council leadership, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective responsibility and shared commitment
