For his sterling performance since he was elected to represent the people of Oyo North senatorial district, Sen. AbdulFatai Buhari has bagged Distinguished Leadership Award from the Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Leadership.
Making the presentation yesterday, the committee, led by the leader of the delegates, Dr Victor Kwashie, said Buhari, who chairs the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, said: ”this award appropriately reflects the endless hours spent ensuring that success is recorded within the confines of your office and it tells of a blueprint of your ultimate achievement.”
“Though your presence would have added color to the occasion, however in recognition of your remarkable achievements and sterling qualities which have attracted this award, we hereby present you this Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Leadership Award with utmost compliments.”
Responding, the former Reps member told the delegates that he also schooled in Ghana said Kwame Nkrumah was one of African leaders he grew up to look up to as a role model right from when he was in college at Kumasi in 1981 before he relocated to Nigeria.
Buhari added that “since the inception of the 8th Assembly which I am privileged to be a member, God has helped me to be consistent and proactive in my legislative duties through sponsorship of motions and bills and at the same time facilitating projects and empowering my constituents.”
“The best is yet to come from me and I will make sure I don’t betray the confidence reposed in me by my constituents who gave me the mandate to represent them at the National Assembly,” he said.
He, however, commended the committee for considering him worthy of the award, urging them not to relent in ensuring the advancement of Africa and its people.
It would be recalled that Buhari was recently honoured by the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, FOSSU and Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, for his outstanding performances at the Senate.
