The sacked local government council chairmen, caretakers, and Councillors under the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) have lost out at the Appeal Court.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, of the Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, who delivered the judgment said the sacked local government Chairmen failed to show verifiable facts of the plan by the Oyo State governor to dissolve the councils.
Tsammani said the case initiated was based on mere speculations and conjectures.
The ALGON members led by Abass-Aleshinloye, who are members of APC, have vowed not to vacate office against the Council dissolution order by Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to them, the dissolution of the governor is illegal, undemocratic, violation of rule of law and a contempt of a subsisting court injunction against any dissolution of local government authorities.
On his inauguration day, Governor Makinde sacked the Chairmen of the 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and directed them to hand over to their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLA) or the most senior directors in their local government areas and councils.
He had since appointed members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to man the local authorities.
