The Babaloja General of Oyo state, the Babaloja General of Oyo state has felicitated with Former Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sumonu on her 64th birthday.
Alhaji Abass in a statement, on Sunday, described Senator Sunmonu as a loving mother who is in full support of the development of the state.
He commended her efforts and contributions towards success of the present administration in the state.
While praying for long life and prosperity for her, he thanked her for her support for the market association in the state.
His words: “On behalf of all market men and women in Oyo state, I want to congratulate Senator Monsurat Sumonu on her 64th birthday. She’s a loving mother who values the development of our dear Oyo state. No wonder, she is fully in support of the Seyi Makinde-led administration.
“I also want to commend her for the support given to market men and women association in the state. We wish her a long life and prosperity.”
Monsurat Olajumoke Sumonu is a Nigerian politician who served as a senator from Oyo State from 2015 to 2019. She represented Oyo Central Senatorial District, having won the election held on 28 March 2015. She was the Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Prior to becoming a senator, she was the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Nigeria. While in the House of Assembly, she was the member representing Oyo East and Oyo West Local Governments. She became the first female Speaker in the history of Oyo State on 10 June 2011.
