Three prominent Oyo monarchs – Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji; Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi and other important guests were yesterday absent from the launch of the Oyo State Education Trust Fund, ETF.
At the launch, which took place at the expansive International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, other invited guests like Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, business magnates- Aliko Dangote, Oba Otudeko, Subomi Balogun, Kola Daisi, Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu, were also missing.
Insideoyo.com had reported how Oba Adetunji and Governor Abiola Ajimobi met for the first time in 6 months, on Monday, during a lecture organised to mark the 60th anniversary of the University College Hospital.
Though it was unsure whether invitations were extended to the monarchs, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos was in attendance, together with the newly elevated and installed Ibadan new kings.
Many guests at the event expressed concerns as to why the monarchs were not at such ‘historic’ event.
It was also not sure whether those who did not make it to the event sent representatives or made pledges.
