Ajayi Crowther University, ACU, Oyo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MOU] with Ezekiel College of Theology, Ekpoma in the area of Theological education.
At the signing ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Daop Asaju, stated that the University owes a duty to theological schools owned by the Anglican Church to help train their students, given that the University belongs to the Anglican Church.
Professor Asaju said his position as Bishop Theologian of Church of Nigeria makes it even more compelling for the University to bring in Theological seminaries to its fold and ensure that standards are not compromised.
‘I will soon commence a tour of all theological seminaries belonging to the Anglican Church in my position as their supervisor of theological education to see what they are doing and ensure that standards are being kept. I will involve the deans of Theology Colleges in concluding steps to review conditions of service in those colleges’ Asaju said.
Earlier the Dean of Ezeikel College of Theology, Ekpoma, Venerable Dr. T.T. Bello, expressed gratitude to the University for the collaboration and promised that his institution would abide by the contents of the Memorandum. He was accompanied to the event by Registrar of the institution Venerable S.F. Idowu.
Those present at the signing ceremony include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Adeniyi, Registrar Mrs. Adenike T. Fatogun, Bursar , Pastor Sampson Olojede, Dean of Faculty Social Science Professor Tunji Titilola, Acting Dean and head of department of Religious Studies, Professor Taiye Aluko and others.
