The Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa has announced the demise of Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution.
Professor Ojo passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
In a statement released by Dr. Gbade Akinteye, Acting Rector of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, the community expressed profound shock and sorrow.
The statement read: “It is with deep sadness and profound shock that the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa community announces the passing of Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo, the esteemed Chairman of our Governing Council.
“Professor Ojo served as the Chairman of our Governing Council, bringing unwavering dedication, wisdom, and visionary leadership to our institution, leaving a void that will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of working with him.
“Before joining Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Professor Ojo had a distinguished career in academia. He was a Professor of Educational Evaluation and served as the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, on sabbatical. His contributions to the field of education were immense, and his impact was felt far beyond the confines of our institution.
“He obtained his first degree and postgraduate degrees in Education from prestigious institutions including the University of Ilorin, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan. He joined the service of the Ogun State College of Education, Ijagun via Ijebu Ode in 1980 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer. Over the years, he held various leadership positions, including a two-term Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
“His exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to education earned him numerous accolades and appointments, including his appointment as Governing Council Chairman of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on October 6, 2022.
“The loss of Professor Ojo is keenly felt not only by the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic community but also by his family, friends, and colleagues. As the institution mourns the passing of a distinguished leader, mentor, and friend, they hold onto the hope that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
