For his contributions to the development of sports, the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. Adesina Michael Adeyemo has been installed as the patron of the state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN.
At a well-attended event, which took place at the Lekan Salami Stadium after members of SWAN and Oyo Assembly played a 2-2 draw in a novelty match organised for the event, Adeyemo was commended for his efforts in the area of sports.
According to SWAN chairman, Niyi Alebiosu, the investiture of the speaker at the association’s patron was long overdue, adding that the association did not just wake up overnight and install him.
In his acceptance speech, the lawmaker promised to continue to support the association, adding that sports is a one of the veritable tools to unite people.
At the event were members of the Oyo Assembly, journalists and politicians.
