The leadership and stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan South East Local Government have reaffirmed their loyalty and unwavering support for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing his administration as one that has transformed both the local government and the state through impactful infrastructure and people-oriented policies.
The declaration was made during “a thank you tour”of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, to Ibadan South East Local Government, Mapo. The party leaders unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership.
The stakeholders commended Makinde for what they described as his visionary leadership and remarkable developmental strides across critical sectors, noting that his administration has delivered legacy projects that have significantly improved the lives of residents.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Hon. Dare Adeleke, the party said Governor Makinde’s achievements had earned him the confidence and continued loyalty of APM members in the local government.
According to the communique issued after the meeting, the leaders declared that the governor had fulfilled his promises to the people and deserved the support of party members and residents alike.
“The governor has done well for us in Ibadan South East Local Government and Oyo State. He has transformed the state through numerous legacy projects that will outlive this generation. We have no other obligation than to reaffirm our loyalty to him and continue supporting his administration,” the statement read.
The leaders further stated that Makinde’s investments in infrastructure and governance had positively impacted communities across the state, adding that they would continue to stand firmly behind him.
They also expressed support for Makinde’s future political aspirations, including his presidential bid, stressing that party leaders, political office holders and grassroots members in the local government remained united behind him.
The meeting also endorsed the governorship aspiration of Mr. Abimbola Adekanmbi, with stakeholders pledging to mobilise party members and the electorate to ensure his victory in the 2027 governorship election.
The leaders described Adekanmbi as a capable and experienced administrator who would consolidate on the achievements of the Makinde administration.
Those in attendance included Hon. Dare Adeleke, over all Leader , Hon. Kunmi Adesina; Prof. Dahood Sangodoyin, Commissioner for Energy; Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin; Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pension Board; Hon. Oluwole Alawode, Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government; and Hon. Abiodun Adedoja (Ekolo), Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy Security.
Others present were Alhaji Yusuf Ali Temitope (Supreme), Full-Time Commissioner, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission; Hon. Modiu Opeyemi Akande; Hon. Yinka Omikunle; Engr. Sulaiman Adesina (World Best), immediate past PDP Chairman in the local government; and Hon. Olajide Oluwole, the current PDP Chairman for Ibadan South East Local Government. APM Leaders in Ibadan North East Local Government were also in attendance.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by party leaders to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and sustain support for Governor Makinde’s administration while working towards the success of Adekanmbi and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
