There are insinuations that former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala may be warming up to represent Oyo North senatorial district as the 2019 general election beckons
A close aide of the former governor told InsideOyo.com that the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, both at the National and State levels have been reaching out to Alao-Akala to return to the party and contest the Oyo North senatorial district election.
Alao-Akala, who defected from PDP, a party through which he held sway as governor between 2007 and 2011, to Labour Party (LP) as a result of irreconcilable differences that arose during the party’s primary in 2015 is reportedly being wooed by the party executives in order to boost the fortune of the party in the state being a strong political force especially in Ogbomoso where he hails from.
Akala left office as governor in 2011 after he lost his re-election bid to the incumbent Abiola Ajimobi and his last attempt in 2015 was not successful.
Currently a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, many of his close political allies have been seen, moving close to PDP camp.
Alhaji Fatai Buhari from the same town is the current senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District and he is a member of the ruling APC.
