The President of a Mapo Grade `A’ Customary Court in Ibadan, Imoleayo Akinrodoye on Wednesday ordered the remand of two suspected miscreants at the Agodi Prison.
The accused: Ridwan Adebayo, 23, and Muritala Ogundare, 29, were docked for alleged unlawful possession of dangerous weapons and threat to life.
Akinrodoye ordered Adebayo and Ogundare to be remanded after the duo pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of unlawful possession of weapons and conspiracy.
Akinrodoye, however, adjourned the case till Jan. 23, for a review of facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the duo committed the offenses on Jan. 5, at Adelabu Memorial Grammar School area, at about 2.30 p.m. in Ibadan.
Ayeni said that the accused perfected their plan to unleash mayhem on the residents of the area before they were apprehended by the police.
He alleged that Adebayo and Ogundare were caught in possession of two wraps of Indian hemp and a machete which they intended to use to unleash mayhem.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 516 and 506 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
