Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo state have restated their support for the immediate past State Chairman of the APC, Chief Akin Oke, describing him as one of the few surviving Awoists and core Progressives in the country.

This assertion was made on Thursday during a courtesy visit paid on Chief Akin Oke in his Ibadan residence by the stakeholders which comprised of the leaders of the APC in Egbeda Local Government area of the state.

The chairman of Egbeda APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Animasaun-Agbedo said in his address that the delegation represented the majority of party faithful in Egbeda Local Government area who remained optimistic about the possibility of Oyo APC going into the next general election as a united and focused progressive family.

“We in Egbeda will forever remain grateful to you (Chief Oke) for holding tenaciously to the progressive torch passed unto you by Chief Awolowo, Uncle Bola Ige and Alhaji Lam Adesina.

We also believe that God will use you to bring normalcy to our great Party in view of the current situation which calls for concern among those who want the best for the society as well as the nation’s democracy.”

In his own speech, Alhaji Ganiyu Alade stated that the only leader recognised by genuine APC members in the state was the former chairman who, according to him, had distinguished himself as a man of vision, mission and values. “We are here to affirm our loyalty to you as the leader of the Progressive in the state and we urge you to continue with the good work you are doing as it concern channelling the right course for all of us.”

Also speaking, the immediate past APC Woman Leader for Oyo Central Senatorial district, Alhaja Zainab Juwon Adewuyi, Hon. Sadiq Akeem Akintunde and Mrs Adeyoola Osunmadewa have kudos to their host who they described as an experienced progressive leader, disciplined administrator and successful democrat.

They prayed God almighty to grant him longevity and sound health to enable him do more for the society.
While responding, Chief Oke thanked the team for the visit which, he noted, was a demonstration of loyalty, solidarity and good spirit.

He therefore used the opportunity to admonish all party faithful in the state to remain steadfast and loyal to the broom party which he reiterated was the only political party capable of offering good governance to Nigerians.

He told the delegation that efforts were in top gear to address all the issues which emanated from the last congresses of the party in the state.

Other members of the delegation include; Hon. Olasunkanmi Oguntade, Mr. Sola Ajani, Mr. Fatai Akinsanmi, Mrs Tolulope Iwaloye, Alhaji Lukman Akinpelu, Alhaja Iyabo Ajimoti, Alhaji Olawale Sadare and Mr. Wasiu Ganiyu Akinpelu.
