A 38-year-old woman has been remanded in Agodi prison, Ibadan, for illegal sales of naira notes.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arraigned the suspect, Mrs Abiodun Anifat, before a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan on a two-count charge bordering on tampering and trading in currency, as well as hawking and selling of currency notes.
Prosecutors say her actions were contrary to section 21(1)and(4) of Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007.
The CBN and other enforcement agencies have warned that those caught abusing, selling or spraying naira notes at parties will be jailed.
Olusegun Oluwole, NSCDC spokesman in the state, said Mrs Anifat was among suspects arrested in Ibadan during a joint operation by Oyo State Command of NSCDC and CBN officials.
She was remanded on Thursday and the case was adjourned to November 26, 2018
