A former Senate Majority Leader, Oyo central Senator-elect, Teslim Folarin is among those eyeing the deputy senate presidency seat ahead of June 2019 inauguration for the 9th National Assembly, The PUNCH gathered.
PUNCH reported over the weekend that Folarin was among the lawmakers that have expressed their interests to preside over the chambers and be among the principal offices of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
“The ruling party had zoned the Senate presidency to the North-East and the Speaker of the House as well as the Deputy Senate presidency to the South-West,” the newspaper quoted an aide to one of the aspirants in the Senate, who is privy to the discussion in the All Progressives Congress caucus.
Apart from Folarin, two other senators eyeing the seat of the Deputy Senate President are Senator Oluremi Tinubu, (Lagos Central) and Senator Ajayi Boroffice (Ondo North).
The source also said the seat of the Senate President has been zoned to the Northeast while the South-West will produce the Speaker.
