Except for the timely intervention of combined team of security agencies, Iwo-road end of Ibadan may soon boil as a motorcyclist has just been killed after been hit by an oncoming truck.
Insideoyo.com learnt that an official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, had allegedly pushed the deceased motorcyclist following disagreement about ‘owo ita’.
The deceased, it was further gathered, fell in front of the truck and was crushed. He was said to have died immediately.
Though unconfirmed report has it that the official who pushed the deceased has been arrested, other garrages within the area are without NURTW officials as they have developed wings. Sensing danger, they are said to have ran away for fear of reprisal.
Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, have packed the remains of the deceased and taken them away in their van.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force are seen stationed in front of Baba Onilu bus stop, monitoring situation.
Insideoyo.com saw blood of the deceased on the road, with sands spread on it.
As at the time of filing this report, many motorcyclists have parked their ‘okadas’ in ‘honour’ of the deceased colleagues and looking for any NURTW official to vent their anger on. They are wielding canes and other dangerous objects.
