The Benjamin Bamidele family of Iyana Odo-Oba area of Academy, Ibadan are pained as the whereabouts of their two little kids- Victoria, 5 and Mary, 3 remain unknown.
Their 4-day old tenant and his wife have allegedly kidnapped them and taken them to a yet-to-be-known place.
Last Monday, 18th September, 2017, the mother had just brought them back from school where she had gone to register them. She left them with the grandmother who was downstairs, to go buy their school materials. This was after she had fed them. Later the wife of the tenant, said to be in her 20s, told the grandma that she wanted to go buy biscuits for the kids. She went with Victoria and Mary but after few minutes, the grandma called to ask the mother of the kids if they had returned from where they went to buy biscuits. That was when they started looking for the kids and the lady who took them out.
It later dawned on them when more than 5 hours later, they could not see the them.
When they, however, forced the door of the rented room open, the met nothing but carpet. There was nothing tangible in the room to trace them.
Speaking with insideoyo.com, the mother of the kidnapped girls reported how she first noticed that the vacant room had been occupied 4 days before the sad event.
“It was last Friday when I saw light in the room that I asked my husband if we had gotten another tenant. The husband should be less than 30 while the wife is in her 20s. The husband was said to have told people that his desire to start his own family made her rent the room. He said he works with his uncle as an apprentice generator mechanic.
“He packed in on Friday. I remember how my husband acted when he got to know that one of the kidnapped kids was sent on errand by the tenant’s wife. He warned me against such. On Sunday, I went to Church, not knowing that they had bad intention.
“Grandma told us how the tenant’s wife used to fix her gaze on her. She was forced to ask her some questions about her family lineage, workplace etc, not knowing they had a mission…,” she narrated.
It was however gathered that the ‘estate agent’ who brought the tenant has been arrested and detained at a divisional police headquarters in the community.
As at the time of filing this report, the tenant and his wife are yet to be found.
