Not less than 100 youths selected from various segments of the society, across the state, were sponsored by a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Engineer Joseph Tegbe to see Áyìnlá, a film by ace cinematographer, Tunde Kelani, on Thursday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Tegbe provided access tickets and refreshments for the selected Youth to see the movie which focuses on the life and music style of Late Áyìnlá Omowura.
Insideoyo.com‘s correspondent who was part of the selected youths reports that the film hit the cinema on Thursday.
Speaking shortly after seeing the movie, Tegbe commended Tunde Kelani for using cinematography to correct social ills as done in Áyìnlá and to preserve Yoruba’s rich culture.
He added that he decided to see the film with the youth because he loves to identify with the youths which he has always been doing in the past.
His words: “If you look at the life of Áyìnlá Omowura, he actually did a lot at his prime age. We lost him at a prime age and everything he preached were still relevant till date.
“So, I thought I should associate with the youth and join them to see the movie.”
Speaking on the spate of insecurity in the state, the APC chieftain said there is a need to look towards value reorientation as a solution.
He said: “I also think we need to re-energise and revitalize the vocational study centers to actually get our people more gainfully employed.”
