The 95th birth anniversary of Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, the Soun of Ogbomoso, has been described as a royalty with an uncommon calm, excellence and progress.
This was contained in a statement by Chief (Engr) Oyèdélé Hakeem Àlàó, former governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the 2019 elections which was made available to newsmen in Ibadan by his media spokesperson, Omotayo Iyanda.
The Asiwaju of Iroko in Akinyele Local Government Area (LGA) of Ibadan, Engr Hakeem Àlàó, said the candour, comportment, calm and excellence with which Alayeluwa Oyewumi had reigned over Ogbomoso Kingdom was, of course, regal and in concomitant with the past royal fathers of the Yoruba land, let alone the progress that his reign had brought to Ogbomoso land.
Engr Hakeem Àlàó said Oba Oyewumi came to the throne of his forefathers with a clear mission of enshrining peace and bringing development to the land, hence the calm and progress that had come to Ogbomoso land since he was installed and coronated as the 19th Soun of Ogbomoso on 24 October, 1973.
“Among the notable progress and development that have come to Ogbomoso under the reign of Soun Oyewumi Ajagungbade, CON, are Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) established in 1990 and LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, which Otunba Christopher Adebayo Àlàó-Akala, a true son of the land, achieved when he was the governor of Oyo State between 2007-2011.
“The reign of His Royal Majesty, Oba Oyewumi has been blessed with great sons and daughters of the land such as Otunba Àlàó-Akala, Alhaja Mulikat Adeola-Akande, former Majority Leader, Federal House of Representatives, Mr Sunday Dare, the current Minister for Youth and Sports, who have all continued to cooperate and support Kabiyesi to bring development to the land.
“All other past and present state and federal lawmakers, other public office holders and political appointees and captains of industries from Ogbomoso land have all cooperated with our royal father, hence the peace, tranquility and progress noticed in the land because ipo isu ni ese to.
“Worthy of note is the fact that Ogbomoso under Alayeluwa Oyewumi Ajagungbade III has never been known with or recorded any serious violence or crises since our father with gentle and peaceful mien mounted the royal stool of his forebears.
“As baba clocked 95 on Thursday, 27 May, 2021, we pray for more years on the throne for our revered father, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III to stay more on the throne with sound health.
