The APC has conducted it’s State House of Assembly primaries across the country, while the winner are jubilating, those that are not picked are either protesting, while some believe the party is supreme and their decision must be respected.
One of the winner of the party’s primary is a Journalist turned Politician, Hon. Shittu Olaitan Abdulfatah, He was picked as the party’s candidate for Ogbomoso North State House of Assembly in the Oyo State House of Assembly. The emergence of Shittu has continued to generate funfair beyond the Ogbomoso North State constituency, because anybody that knows Shittu believe his candidacy represents a new direction for youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and grassroots development.
Shittu’s emergence is not just another political nomination, but the rise of a man whose professional journey had prepared him for the enormous task of representation and service. Before his foray into politics, Shittu has already built a reputable career in journalism as a staff member of Channels Television, one of Nigeria’s leading broadcast stations, His work as the station’s correspondence took him to almost all the states in Nigeria, exposing him to governance, policy implementation, economic realities and the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
Shittu is not just a politician, but a grassroots-oriented individual whose years in the media profession sharpened his understanding of leadership, accountability and public service. His experience in the field also helped him to build relationships with key stakeholders across the country, a development that will benefit the good people of Ogbomoso North if elected in the coming election.
Shittu, who worked closely with the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare when he was in office, has gained a practical exposure to youth empowerment initiatives, sports administration and entrepreneurship-driven development programmes. Shittu was also an aide to a former speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, his experience within the legislative environment exposed him to the working of government, law making and constituency representation. His legislative exposure gives him a strategic advantage over many first-time politicians because he already understands the demands and responsibilities associated with lawmaker and public office.
Therefore, Shittu’s combination of media experience, legislative exposure and entrepreneurial background positions him as a credible and capable representative for the good people of Ogbomoso North State constituency.
Beyond politics, Shittu is widely recognised as an entrepreneur passionate about youth empowerment and self-reliance, he believes one of rhe lasting solutions to unemployment is equipping young people with practical skills and opportunities that can help them become financially independent.
I spoke with him after the primary and he said his first priority if elected will be to establish an empowerment and training initiatives targeted at helping youths and women of his constituency acquire entrepreneurial and vocational skills.
The candidacy of Shittu is a bridge between the younger generation and experienced political leadership in the party, Ogbomoso North and Oyo State in general. I think his emergence reflects the growing desire among the people for leaders with practical experience, fresh ideas and strong grassroots connections.
As political activities gradually gathering momentum ahead of the January 2027 election, the Candidacy of Shittu Olaitan Abdulfatah (Omo Abede) is already attracting local and National attention, because he is been view from the lens of an emerging young political figure to watch out for in Oyo State.
