The camp of Engr. Seyi Makinde has reacted to insideoyo.com‘s story about moves by some elements within the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and Labour Party, LP in Oyo State to present him and Barr. Lanre Agoro as governorship and deputy governorship candidates of a yet-to-be decided political party in the 2019 election.
Insideoyo.com had reported how Saki-born former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Michael Koleosho, was uncovered to be the chief proponent, with N1bn earmarked for the project.
But an ally of the Ibadan-born oil magnate and philanthropist, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola has described the story as untrue.
Ayoola, who is a former speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, confirmed insideoyo.com‘s story on how opposition political parties in the state have been meeting on ways to form alliance to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Oyo-born politician explained that “We have a meeting of chieftains of 4 parties going on; SDP, Accord, Labour and PDP. It is aimed at synergy in Oyo State. Every known gladiator that is not in APC is there. Nobody, I repeat , nobody is talking of posts yet.”
He added that “We have all subsumed our ambitions under the new understanding in order to build an alliance first , have common goals and then pull in the same direction towards 2019.
“The story about a Makinde/Agoro ticket is fictional and it can only exist in the fertile imagination of its purveyors,” he submitted.
