I Am Delighted Governor Makinde Is Supporting 3SC – Akin Alabi

The federal lawmaker-elect from the All Progressives’ Congress to represent Egbeda/Ona Ara federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, Akin Alabi has admitted that the emergence of Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate as the governor-elect is deserving on the account of past efforts.

He stated that although he worked quite hard in canvassing votes for his party’s gubernatorial candidate, Adebayo Adelabu in spite of personal conviction that he is the best but Makinde, on the other hand, worked hard to earn his own victory.

Mr Alabi’s stance was made known in a thread of tweets on his verified account on Sunday, a day after the poll was conducted.

“Congratulations to Engr Seyi Makinde. You have worked hard for your victory. If you succeed, it means Oyo state has succeeded and that what we all want. I wish you the best”, he wrote on Twitter.

“I won my polling unit. Won my ward but sadly, could not deliver my local government. Congratulations in advance to the next governor of Oyo state.

“We are still waiting for the final results for Egbeda but unofficial information reaching me is that PDP is leading us.

“I campaigned hard for @BayoAdelabu because I believe he is the best man for the job. We await the final results. I will love it if we win. If we don’t, congratulations to whoever wins it”, he earlier tweeted while speculations were still on that the APC candidate may end as the runner-up.

However, he also acknowledged the political bid of Adelabu to run for the race in 2019.

A big kudos to my big brother, Bayo Adelabu for running an amazing campaign. I strongly believe you were the better candidate but the people of Oyo state don’t agree with me which I respect 100%. You are a STAR and I will always love and support you”, Mr Alabi added on Twitter.

On what panned out in the local politics of Oyo state, on March 1, staunch politician, former governor of the state and gubernatorial candidate of Action Democratic Party, Christopher Alao Akala had dropped his ambition to support APC’s candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

He had pulled out of the coalition meetings with governorship candidates of African Democratic Congress (ADC),Olufemi Lanlehin, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) Sharafadeen Alli, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bolaji Ayorinde and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seyi Makinde.

While his last-minute support was almost strengthening the tendency of Adelabu to emerge the next governor, other three parties in the initial coalition dropped their common ambition for Makinde to run for governor.

They declared their endorsement of Makinde three days after Akala’s change of support.
