The Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter has pledged its support for the Oyo State Governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, in his quest to improve the level of security in the state.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the group stated this in a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade S.A Olajide, at the end of the quarterly meeting which held in Oyo town to review its activities noted that it is ready to give Makinde the support he needed to tackle the security challenge in the state.
The statement further stated that the vigilante group has been supportive to other security agencies such as the police, DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, VIO among others.
It, however, restated its commitment to continue to work with these agencies to reduce the crime rate drastically in the state, while seeking government’s support to be more effective.
The vigilante pleaded with the government to support the vigilante officers by providing them with working tools such as vehicles, motorcycles, boots, raincoats etc.
According to the group, these apparatuses would enable members of the vigilante group move around the interior areas where crimes are more perpetrated, get criminals arrested and hand them over to the police for proper investigation or possible prosecution.
