The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has reiterated his commitment to strengthening community security as he presented essential office equipment to security formations across his constituency.
The empowerment programme, held at the Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Ibadan, brought together officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Agboworin, a retired United States military officer, said the gesture was part of his regular support for the security sector, stressing that a safe society remains the foundation of development.
“Security remains my top priority, Imagine if the police went on strike for just one weekeverything would collapse. That is why I have resolved to engage security agencies every three months to identify their needs and challenges.”he said
The lawmaker explained that the initiative was not a political move but a continuous effort to complement the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in maintaining peace and order across Oyo State.
“This is not the first time I am supporting security agencies, and it will not be the last. We must not only remember them during election periods,” he added.
Among the beneficiaries were the DSS headquarters, Amotekun Corps in Ibadan South-East and North-East, NSCDC divisional office, and the Oyo State Police Command.
