The chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Akeem Raheem, on Monday, felicitated Muslim faithful in the local government and across the State over the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir.

Raheem, who congratulated the Muslims on witnessing another Eid Adha, prayed to Allah to accept the sacrifices of the faithful and make it a year filled with joy and happiness.

According to the council chairman, despite the challenges facing the country, including insecurity and economic hardship, there is a reason to celebrate Allah’s mercies and to seek His guidance and help during the Eid Adha.

Hon. Raheem had, at the weekend, reached out to royal fathers, religious leaders, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some residents of Oorelope Local Government with Sallah gifts ranging from rams to rice, clothes and cash gifts.

The chairman, who commended the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for reducing the hardship on the people by running a government with human face and implementing policies that cater to the welfare of the masses, said his administration in the local government will continue to put smiles on the faces of residents.

He equally called on security agencies to be up and doing in securing the council during the festivities, while also admonishing residents of the local government to be vigilant and security-conscious.

He said: “I use this occasion to celebrate with my Muslim brothers and sisters in Oorelope Local Government on this year’s Eid el-Kabir.

“Despite all the challenges we are faced with, the festival is worthy of celebration because Allah spared our lives. We thank Allah for His mercies.

“It is my charge that all Muslim faithful should use the opportunity of the Eid Adha to pray for Oorelope, Oyo State and Nigeria.

“Pray for the people-centred government of our leader, Governor Seyi Makinde, who has been bringing succour to the people by implementing people-oriented policies that result in putting smiles on the faces of our people.

“As an administration at the local government level, we will also remain committed to putting smiles on the faces of our people. This is why, at the weekend, we embarked on the distribution of rams, food items, clothes and cash gifts to traditional rulers, religious leaders, party loyalists and some residents.

“I also use this opportunity to charge our security agencies, including Local Hunters and the Amotekun Corps, to continue to be up and doing in securing the local government. The poem should also continue to be security-conscious.

“May this year be filled with joy and happiness and may Allah accept our sacrifices and grant answers to all our prayers.”
