After more than 6 years of living without a King, the people of Saki town in Saki West local government area in Oyo state will soon have a new king following the emergence of 22 candidates to fill the vacant Okere of Saki stool on Wednesday.
Insideoyo.com recalls that the last Okere of Saki, Oba Kelani Olatoyese Olarinre II died in April, 2013 at the age of 60.
The 22 candidates emerged from the Ado ruling house following a release by the Head of Local Government Administration in Saki West through one of the Directors, Alhaji Gbadegesin Rahaman.
It reads “That the ruling house entitled to provide a candidate or candidates to fill the vacant stool of the Okere of Saki is Ado Ruling House and has been informed accordingly.
“It’s expected therefore that the members of Ado ruling house acting either jointly or severely, will within fourteen (14) days of this notice, that is on or before Tuesday 17th Day of December, 2019 provide through their family head, a candidate or candidates who should be nominated at a family meeting to be summoned by their family head to the kingmakers, Okere chieftaincy, Saki.”
The candidates are Prince Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyin, Justice Steven Popoola Alobalowo, Abdul-fatai Abimbola Karaya, Alh. Egbinola Rafiu Olayede Aremu, Badmus Yususa Ayinde Ado, Alh. Taiwo Hussein Olakunle Olawoyin, Dr. Popoola Fatai Alobalowo, Wasiu Olayiwola Ajagbe, Wahab Ayinla Olayiwola, Dr. Saliu Oyesade Olatunji, Abdul-Azeez Afeez Adetola.
Others are Sulaiman Olakunle AbdulSalam, Abdulganiyu Adetunji Oladigbolu, Alh. Jubril Oloyede Awujoola Lobalowo, Bashir Akanni Ado Ololade, Afisu Amao-ado Ololade, Imran Abdulsalau Adebayo, Isaac Olawale, Alh. Rasheed Folaranmu, Yahaya Ishola Awujoola Alobalowo, Sakariya Ariwoola Ado and Sulaiman Olanrewaju Owolabi.
Insideoyo.com reliably gathered that the King makers have promised to announce the new king among the 22 candidates before the end of next week.
