The lawmaker representing Oyo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Prince Akeem Adeyemi on Tuesday moved a motion for rehabilitation of the damaged Iseyin-Oyo road.
In his motion, Skimeh, as the ex-council chairman is fondly called, said that the road has become worse that “it is putting commuters at risk of accidents and at the mercy of hoodlums; who take advantage of the bad state of the road to carry out their nefarious activities.”
He went further: ”Notes that Oyo-Iseyin Road is a major road that connects many communities in Oyo State and enhances major economic activities in the state, as goods and services are regularly transferred through the road;
“Worried that if urgent steps are not taken tho rehabilitate the road, the citizens will continue to suffer, and economic activities will be halted, thereby resulting in loss of revenue to the state and the country at large.”
The House has, however, urged the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to commence rehabilitation of Oyo-Iseyin Road, mandating its committee on works and FERMA to ensure the inclusion of the reconstruction of the road in 2018 budget estimated.
Only recently, the lawmaker moved a motion for the rehabilitation of Durbar-Akinmoorin-SPED Road.
