Former Secretary to the Oyo state government, Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli was absent on Friday at the inauguration of the State Advisory Council by the governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde in Ibadan, the state capital.
Sharafadeen Alli who was the gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, one of the parties that formed alliance during the 2019 gubernatorial election to produce the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Recall that insideoyo.com had earlier reported that Makinde appointed Sharafadeen Alli and other strong members of the alliance as members of the State Advisory Council. The chairman of the Advisory Council is former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola popularly known as Halleluyah.
In some quarters, Alli was believed to have turned down Makinde’s appointment as an Advisory Council member of the state. This claim, InsideOyo.com can not independently verify. Also, recall that the former governor of the state and the leader of the Zenith Labour Party, Chief Rashidi Ladoja was absent during the swearing in ceremony of Engineer Seyi Makinde. Although, his media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, said Ladoja was mourning and has adequately informed Makinde when he (governor) visited him, 24 hours to his inauguration.
Present at the inauguration were Governor Seyi Makinde, his deputy; Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, his Chief of staff; Bisi Ilaka and the Head of Service; Alhaja Medinah Agboola.
Also present were leader of the Unity Forum, a wing of the African Democratic Congress, Senator Monsurah Sunmonu; the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Barrister Stephen Ayorinde and others.
ROLES OF STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL
Engineer Seyi Makinde in a tweet on his verified twitter account seen by insideoyo.com hinted the role of the State Advisory Council.
It reads “The Council is to advise us on the implementation of development programmes and policies of our administration. This is part of our plan to run an all-inclusive government in our state.”
