To cushion the stay-at-home order aimed at tackling the spread of coronavirus in the state, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu has distributed food items worth 3 million for the people of Ogbomoso.
Insideoyo.com reports that the state is gradually moving towards total lockdown following a curfew order and other measures announced by the governor on Friday night.
Open Salawu, an aspirant of the party for Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North and Oriire federal constituency in the 2019 general election told insideoyo.com that he hopes more people in the state and country will follow this suit and assist the needy in this difficult time.
“All over the world governments are urging people to stay at home and many more borders might be closed and interstate movements may be restricted. The implications of these measures are enormous but it’s the only way to stop the spread of this virus.
“So in view of that I am giving 3 million Naira to my community to buy foods and shear to the vulnerable. I hope more people will follow suit and assist the needy in this very difficult time knowing fully well most Nigerians live on their daily earnings.” he said.
The former Special Adviser on Works and Transport to Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi had earlier urged Nigerians to take to instructions of governments at all levels to contain the spread of coronavirus.
He said “The scientist are working tirelessly to find a cure to this virus and we hope it will be soon. Pending when Solution will be known we should take to instructions of our Governments at various levels to curb the virus, preventing and precautions measures could safe a life please let us be responsible.
“Ensure to wash your hands with soap under running tap when you suspected you have touched contaminated objects or use hand sanitizer and stay at home to prevent the spread.”
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases as disclosed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, stands at 81 with three people discharged and one death recorded.
