Three days to his installation as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams this evening arrived the ancient city of the Alaafin, Oyo, to commence traditional rites.
Insideoyo.com had reported on Monday that Adams will go into seclusion from today.
Adams who arrived Oyo town around 5 pm was led to the sacred place by Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu and Akogun Segun Taiwo, the chairman and secretary of the organizing committee respectively.
Speaking with Journalists who questioned on arrival, Adams, who is the National Cordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, said he is fully prepared for the task ahead.
According to him, “there is nothing to worry about, this is not the first I will be performing traditional rites; its part of our culture and anybody aspiring to hold position of authority in Yorubaland must perform it.
”I won’t miss anything while in seclusion, i will have more knowledge, understanding and related history about my new position,” he added.
Ladigbolu, who received Adams in his residence said the rite is necessary because its part of the steps to be taken for the official coronation, noting that the committee is fully prepared for the official coronation on Saturday.
It was further gathered that Adams is not expected to see Alaafin until Saturday when the traditional rite must have been concluded.
