A chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadanland, Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi, has lauded the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for delivering good governance in the state in the last two years, stating that the governor has not disappointed the teeming people of the state.
He also commended the governor for allowing a free and fair local government polls, which he according to him, has produced competent individuals who will replicate Makinde’s pro-people governance at the grassroots across the 33 local governments.
Gbadamosi, who stated this at the weekend in a press statement he made available to journalists in Ibadan, maintained that Oyo State has witnessed a massive turnaround across the four pillars of education, health, security and economic expansion in the last two years.
He urged the governor to remain focused on delivering maximum and excellent service to the people and not be distracted by political maneuvers, which tend to derail administrations with the interest of the people at heart.
Gbadamosi, who contested the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West House of Representatives seat in the 2019 general election, equally counselled the 33 elected chairmen to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them and to promote the PDP government by serving their people selflessly.
He said: “As the country marks the 2021 Democracy Day, I want to use the opportunity to commend Governor Seyi Makinde for being a worthy ambassador of good governance and an ideal Democrat.
“With the myriad of development projects and achievements of the Makinde government in the infrastructure, education, security and health sectors as well as sound programmes and policies put in place by the government, it is hard to believe he has only spent two years in office.
“Indeed, Oyo State has never had it this good. Governor Makinde has demonstrated what good governance means and I am sure that the people of the state are happy with him.
“I urge His Excellency not to be distracted by the political manoeuvres going on within the party. Though that is democracy at work, the governor should continue to stay true to the people.
“Equally commendable is the governor’s democratic credentials, a demonstration of which is the transparent conduct of the local government polls.
“While commending the governor for overseeing a free, fair and credible local government election, however, one cannot but use the opportunity to remind the elected chairmen to be worthy ambassadors of the PDP. They need to serve with the fear of God and replicate the good governance ideals of the governor.”
