Following the crisis rocking the party in Ekiti, the National leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has named the Chairman, Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola popularly known as Halleluyah, as the caretaker chairman of the Ekiti state chapter of the party.
The National Organizing Secretary, Col Austin Akobundu (Rtrd), in a letter he personally signed and made available to pressmen on Friday in Abuja, urged Senator Agboola to deploy his wealth of experience in the administration of the party in Ekiti state pending when a new state congress will hold and a new elected state party members of executive will be in place.
According to the letter, the party urged the new party caretaker chairman in Ekiti state and his interim members of the executive to be guided by the party constitution and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended as well as the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The Ekiti state PDP members of the executive tenure which expired on May 10th 2020 has left temporary vacuum in the administration of the party in the state.
The new PDP caretaker committee in Ekiti state headed by Senator Hosea Agboola as Chairman is expected to last for a period of ninety days (three months) after which an elected state exco is expected to be fully constituted.
As Sen. Hosea Agboola chairman the committee, the secretary is Hon. Diran Odeyemi while members are Otunba Vinka AKERELE, Hon. (DR) Samuel Omotoso, Hon. Adeyemi Abiodun Sunday, Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi and Mr. Ariyo Afola.
The letter read: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, PDP, has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) pursuant to Sections 29(2)(b) and 31(2)(e) of our Constitution (2017 as amended) approved your nomination as CHAIRMAN of the EKITI STATE CARETAKER COMMITTEE.
“Accordingly, your Committee is charged with the sole responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in Ekiti State upon the expiretion of the tenure of the current State Executive Committee (Le from May 10, 2020), until a new Executive Committee is elected for a period not more than 90 days (5-months).
“In carrying out this assignment, you are to be gilded strictly by the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended). The Electoral Act as amended in 2010 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
“It is expected that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the Party.”
