Another‎ attempt to broker truce between the stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Oyo state chapter on Sunday failed, as another meeting held at the Ondo street residence of former governor Rashidi Ladoja, ended in stalemate.

According to ‎the meeting, called at the instance of Ladoja, was aimed at resolving the crisis which began since the party’s state congress on Saturday November 4, 2017,  and chart a way forward for the party.

‎It would be recalled that the party held parallel congresses at Watershed, Old Ife-road and Baptist Secondary School, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on the same day.

It was gathered that the meeting was attended by notable party stalwarts which include : Senator Ladoja, Senator Femi Lanlehin, Chief Yemi Aderibigbe, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, Honourable Mulikat Akande Adeola, Mr Kehinde Ayoola, Demola Ojo among others.

The meeting, sources informed was aimed at resolving the imbroglio before today, November 20 target given by the national headquarters of the party to solve the issue as still \’home affairs\’.

It was gathered that the national headquarters of the party after the appeal submitted its report said the two groups should go back to Ibadan to resolve it and come back to give them a harmonised list which both parties agreed to but failed to reach consensus on how to come about it during the Sunday meeting.

The sources further informed that the national headquarters chose this condition, since the two factions had confessed to the former governor as their leader.

But the the meeting which lasted over two hours failed to resolve the problem, with each camp not ready to shift ground.

It was learnt that the group which held its congress at Watershed wished to hold on to its decision at that venue to stay while the Oke-Ado group want harmonisation of the 25 executive members between the two groups.

According to a source, the major contending issue which they failed to resolve is how to share the 25 executive slots from the to congresses held at Watershed and Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The two groups accepted the decision to release the position of the Youth Leader and Public Relations Officer,  PRO,  for Ladoja who is seen as the leader but could not agree on sharing of the remaining 25 slots.

The grouse of the two groups during the meeting was then traced back to the commencement of the ward and local government congresses which they argued had destroyed the unity with which the party started the reconciliation.

‎When they failed to reach a consensus, Ladoja, source informed, them of his decision to inform the national secretariat they failed to resolve the matter.

This could then be determined on the merit of the two parties\’ presentations before the National Caretaker committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi in line with the unity agenda of the party to launch itself back to power.‎‎
