Workers in the employ of Oyo State Government operating under the auspices of the Public Service Joint Negotiation Council will tomorrow (today) commence a three-day warning strike to press home their demands.
In a letter titled: “Re: Unresolved Labour Issues With The State Government” addressed to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, dated January 14, 2019, the workers said they would be left with no option than to embark on the strike should government failed to meet their demands as at close of work on Tuesday.
According to them, the warming strike will start from Wednesday, January 16, if the state government does nothing to stop it by the close of work today, Tuesday January 15, 2019.
The letter signed by the council’s scribe, Comrade Akinfenwa Olabode, the workers said the state government had failed to address demands made to it in a previous letter dated January 7, 2019 in which a seven-day ultimatum was issued.
“As our 7-day Ultimatum expires today and without genuine, fruitful response to our demands as contained in our letter under reference, the Public Service Joint Negotiation Council (Labour side), Oyo State council after due consultations with the centres has no choice than to direct her members to embark on a 3-day warning strike between Wednesday 16 and 18 January 2019 if there is no positive response by the close of work on Tuesday 15, January 2019”, part of the statement read.
