Insideoyo.com learnt that the strike is in solidarity with workers of all the tertiary institutions in the state.

They described as insensitive the inability of the government to pay the over 17-month salary arrears owed tertiary institutions’ workers and 56-month pension owed retired primary school teachers.

A statement obtained by insideoyo.com stated that “the unions have resolved to embark of 3-days warning from tomorrow- Wednesday To Friday to press home their demands immediately after the expiration of 7-days ultimatum given to the state government to resolve the issues lapses on 23rd, Tuesday, January,2018.

Their demands include:

1.Reinstatement of the 256 sacked staffs of LAUTECH teaching hospital, Ogbomoso.

2.Stoppage of 25% payment of salary to tertiary institutions workers in the last 2 years and payment of 15 months arrears.

3.Removal of embargo placed on promotion since 2010.

4.Pension and gratuity of retired primary schools teachers running to over 50-months

The workers decided to go on with the strike after its meeting at the NLC secretariat, Yidi, Agodi Gate on Tuesday.
