SPEAKER of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adesina Michael Adeyemo has explained that no one has the right to parade him or herself as the chairman of any local government without undergoing screening by the Assembly.
According to the Lanlate-born politician, the complete process of appointment are done following the following processes- nomination by the executive, confirmation or otherwise by the house and swearing-in by the executive.
Inside Oyo had reported how Taiwo Adeleke ( Asabari local council development area) and Mudasiru Agbaje (Irepo local government), we’re found ‘unappointable’ by the Assembly and their inauguration by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Controversies had surrounded the inauguration of the two nominees and the replacement of the nominees for Lagelu local government with another nominee who was not screened, on the day of inauguration.
Adeyemo, a two-term lawmaker, who made the clarification while addressing journalists, acknowledging the receipt of another set of letters from the executive on the possible replacement or renomination of persons to the local government in question.
He, however, did not disclose the content of the letter. He asked journalists to wait till the House take a decision on the letters, urging the parties concerned not to do anything to disrupt the prevailing peace in the state.
