The aim of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reunite its old members and wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State got a boost today as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in the 2015 governorship election, Engr. Seyi Makinde, officially joined the party.
This is coming ten days after the national caretaker chairman of the party, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi visited the oil magnate and other former members of the PDP in the state.

Sources who were at the meeting where the decision to return to PDP was resolved said the national leadership of SDP was in the know, adding that the structure of the party will now be collapsed into the PDP.
At the meeting which lasted two hours at the Ikolaba residence of Makinde were all the major stakeholders from the ward to state levels.
In few days time, the leadership of SDP is expected to brief the media.
Makinde left the PDP in the build up to the 2015 governorship election when it was obvious he was not going to secure the ticket.
