The Association of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State has congratulated the newly inaugurated State Executive members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), describing their emergence as a product of unity and collective resolve.
The State Congress, which was held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Adamasingba Sports Complex, Ibadan, produced Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro as the new Chairman alongside other executives who will steer the affairs of the party in the state for the next four years.
The exercise was widely adjudged by observers and party stakeholders as peaceful, transparent, and devoid of rancour.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the Chairman of the Association, Hon. Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, and made available to journalists through its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the council chairmen commended the smooth conduct of the congress and expressed optimism that the new executives would consolidate on the achievements of their predecessors.
The forum noted that the emergence of the new leadership at this critical time is a positive step towards strengthening the PDP’s internal democracy and enhancing its readiness for future political engagements.
They maintained that the peaceful transition underscored the maturity and unity within the party, especially under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“The entire Association of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State is delighted to celebrate with our new State Executive members of the PDP led by Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro. Your emergence through a hitch-free congress is a testimony to the discipline, unity, and maturity that define our great party in Oyo State,” the statement partly read.
While congratulating the new executive team, the Chairmen prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and impactful leadership throughout their tenure. They urged the new officers to work assiduously to deepen party structures across the 33 local government areas, mobilize grassroots support, and deliver on the PDP’s core mandate of good governance and people-centered development.
The statement also reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the 33 Local Government Chairmen to collaborate with the new executive council in sustaining the party’s dominance in Oyo State politics.
“We are confident that under your leadership, our party will continue to grow stronger, more united, and more responsive to the yearnings of our people. We pledge our unflinching support and cooperation towards ensuring that the PDP remains the party of choice across Oyo State,” the council bosses declared.
The congress further solidified the PDP’s position as the ruling party in Oyo State, with stakeholders expressing renewed confidence in its ability to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
