A renowned trader, Princess Aderonke Ramat Adedoja, was elected as the new chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Traders (NANTS) Oyo State chapter.
Princess Adedoja was elected as the new chairman to preside over the affairs of the traders association at an election held in the NANTS office at Aliwo area of Ibadan.
The election of the new leadership was observed by the Southwest Secretary of the association, Alhaji Akande Olatunji, the representative of the state ministry of commerce, trade and industry, Mr. Akeem Kareem, and representatives from all geo-political zones of the state.
Addressing the gathering, the representative of the state ministry of commerce and industry, Mr. Akeem Kareem, stated that his presence was due to a letter written to the ministry about the election.
The chairman of the electoral committee, Alh. Ibraheem Tiamiyu, noted that the election was open to all and transparent, though most of the positions were unopposed due to consultations that had taken place. He added that the constitution stipulates that anyone elected is for a period of two years with an option of a second term.
In her acceptance speech after the declaration of the result, the new chairman of NANTS, Princess Aderonke Ramat Adedoja, promised to foster economic growth, development, and be a beacon of hope for traders in the state and southwest as a whole.
Others elected include Alhaji Fatai Usman as Vice Chairman, Alhaji Nureni Alade, Ademola Adebayo, and Salawudeen Abdulraheem as zonal deputies. Others are Bakare Adekunle as General Secretary, Akinade Joseph, Tunde Bello as Assistant Secretary, Adebisi Oyefunke as Women Leader, Adeyemi Adeleke as Publicity Secretary, and Barrister Gbenga Makinde as Legal Adviser.
The event featured the swearing-in of the new leadership of NANTS and the presentation of appointment letters.
