The Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS) on Tuesday distributed 30,000 bags of rice of 10kg to less privileged Muslims in the 33 local government areas of the state.

The palliatives were donated to MUSCOYS by Dangote foundation for onward distribution to poor Muslims in the state.

Speaking during the distribution MUSCOYS Chairman, Alhaji Kunle Sanni said that 500 bags of rice would be given to each of the local government areas of the state to alleviate their hardship.

He said that a lot of Muslims got relief during Ramadan fasting because of the assistance received during the period but some are now back to their fasting mood after Ramadan.

The Chairman said that the palliatives donated by Alhaji Aliko Dangote to less privileged Muslims in the state would go a long way in assisting the beneficiaries in feeding their families.

He said though the palliatives would not get to all the less privileged Muslims in the state but the few that would benefit from the gesture would be relief in one way or the other.

Sanni called on those that would be saddled with the distribution in the 33 local government areas of the state to fear God and be just with the distribution.

He said that he has known Dangote in the last few decades touching the lives of the less privileged.

“Let me at this time appreciate our brother Alhaji Aliko Dangote for extending his generosity to cushion the poverty culture in our clime.

“Whoever is not grateful to man cannot be grateful to Allah.

“We hope members of the Dangote Foundation present here would convey our gratitude to Alhaji Aliko Dangote,” he said.

Sanni further called on Gov.Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to take the plight of Muslims in the state serious and not to forget them in the forthcoming Eld-kabir celebration.

He said that others that would also benefit from the gesture would be some Muslim organisations in the state.

In his remark, a representative of Dangote Foundation, Mr Abayomi Sowumi, said the foundation donated the palliatives as part of gesture to support the less privileged in the society.

Sowumi said that the gesture was also to support the Federal Government in cushion the economic hardship in the society.

“This programme is for the poor and Dangote will always do more, he has been doing it to alleviate the hardship of the poor,” he said.

Also speaking, Asiwaju Muslimi of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiullah Onimalu, called on well-meaning Nigerians to always assist the less privileged in the society.
