The Forum of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, under the leadership of Hon. Sakiru Sanda, has congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as “DoN,” on his resounding victory in the just-concluded bye-election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
According to the official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hon. Folajimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 18,404 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Adewale Olatunji (Murphy) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 8,312 votes.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Forum described the victory as well-deserved, not only for Hon. Folajimi but also for Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP family in Oyo State.
“The outcome of this election clearly shows that the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, and indeed Oyo State, are solidly behind Governor Makinde’s PDP-led administration and its commitment to good governance,” the statement read.
The Forum commended residents of the constituency for turning out in large numbers to support the PDP candidate, assuring them that Hon. Folajimi would justify their confidence through quality representation at the House of Representatives.
Hon. Sikiru Sanda led local government chairmen forum further noted that the victory would strengthen the PDP’s dominance in Oyo politics and consolidate the gains of Governor Makinde’s administration across the state.
