Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has vowed to ensure that the state’s House of Assembly is autonomous during his administration.
He made this commitment on Monday in reaction to the emergence of Rt Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin as the ninth Speaker of the House.
‘Hearty congratulations to the newly elected Honourable Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin and Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Fadeyi of the Oyo State House of Assembly. I wish you a successful tenure. Our administration will respect the autonomy of the legislature’, Makinde said, as he graced the occasion.
The governor also encouraged the entire legislature to set the interest of the citizens as priority by working hand-in-hand with the executive.
“At the inauguration of the Ninth Assembly of Oyo State, I implored the newly-sworn-in members to work collaboratively with the executive arm of government, putting the interests of the good people of Oyo State who elected us, first”, Governor Makinde added.
The 32-year-old Rt. Hon Ogundoyin is the youngest speaker to have emerged in the history of Oyo state House of Assembly.
He is representing Ibarapa-East at the ninth Assembly.
