Wife of the late PDP Chieftain in Oyo State and South West Woman Leader, Alhaja Bose Adedibu has showered encomium on Member of the state’s House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi for extending the dividend of democracy to the people of his constituency.
Hon. Fowokanmi, who is representing Ibadan South West constituency II, has on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, commissioned a reconstructed bridge linking Bolumole and Elewura Communities at Challenge area of Ibadan.
Yeyeluwa, as she is fondly called, while commissioning the bridge project, commended the lawmaker for remember and giving back to the people that gave him the mandate to represent them.
The wife of late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu disclosed that not every elected or appointed political office holder do remember where he comes from, hence the need to appreciate few that still remember the people who suffered for them in their trying time like Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi.
Alhaja Adedibu stated that the lawmaker has justified his name (Fowokanmi) by making sure that dividend of democracy is extended to the people of his constituency.
“Hon. Fowokanmi has justified his name by touching the lives of the people, by extending the dividend of democracy and by making sure that people of the grassroots, people at his locality feel the impact of his representative.”
In the meantime, Hon. Fowokanmi, in his effort to ensure that large number of youths are taking away from the streets and engage, he has empowered not less than 100 youths in six different skill acquisition programmes across the six wards in his constituency.
The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, Committee on Education in the Oyo State House of Assembly, thanked the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for making it possible for them to be able to reach out to their people.
Fowokanmi expressed that empowering youths in vocational training is a new way forward for a new Nigeria, noting that the era of making the people to depend on politicians to survive is gone.
“We can not continue to make them to depend on us all through their lives. We should teach them how to fish and be self independent, that is the concept of the skill acquisition programmes we are holding today. We aimed to train 100 youths and give them necessary equipment they will need to set up themselves. We have the training in six categories of vocations, we have fashion designing, make-up training, catering, computer, barbing and hairdressing,” Hon. Fowokanmi said.
Also, about 50 Small Scale Business owners in Ibadan South West state constituency II have been benefited from the financial support by Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi to boost their businesses.
While presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, gave kudos to Hon. Fowokanmi for making his empowerment all inclusive to ensure that no segment is sidelined.
He charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial gesture to accomplish the original objective which is to boost their businesses.
Alhaji Akanbi maintained that gestures like this from political office holders to members of the party and the people in general will go a long way in cushion the effect of poverty in the Nigeria.
While speaking about his intention for the cash support for his constituents, Hon. Fowokanmi revealed that the support is for those that have above the training age but having particular businesses they are doing.
The lawmaker explained that the gesture will not only help them to boost their businesses but also to make them happy that they have benefited from the PDP’s dividend of democracy.
