A member of the House of Representatives representing Surulere/ Ogo Oluwa constituency, Hon. Segun Dokun Odebunmi (Bunvic) has received backings from stakeholders ahead of the the inauguration of the 9th Assembly for the speakership seat.
This is coming as some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) backed the agitation of Oyo State to produce the speaker the 9th National Assembly.
According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, a member of the National Executive Committee of APC from North East disclosed this after a meeting of stakeholders on the project in Ibadan.
He said they are mobilising stakeholders from other zones to ensure the position of speakership is zone to Oyo State.
In the same move, a group of concerned stakeholders under the aegis of Southwest Youth Ambassador has called on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, and National Leadership of the party to consider Segun Odebunmi for House of Representatives’ speaker.
In a statement signed by its coordinator Amb. Sanjo Saka and Secretary Amb. Ezekiel Akinborode and the Publicity Secretary, Amb. Segun Aremu, described Odebunmi, as a politician with political dexterity, administrative acumen and interpersonal skills to lead the House of Representatives.
While appreciating the efforts of Tinubu in ensuring victory for the party across the country, the group expressed confidence in the capacity of Odebunmi to drive the affairs of the green chamber, adding that the legislator will complement the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari, in building a prosperous nation.
“Having been a local government chairman, commissioner and now a member of the House of Representatives, Odebunmi is qualified for the position of speaker. We are confident that the federal lawmaker will not disappoint the party and Nigerians in general.”
While drumming up support for the candidature of Odebunmi, the group urged the South West members of the green chamber to reach out to their colleagues in other zones to achieve Odebunmi’s aspiration and pray for their success in the journey
