If the Bill scaled through, Oyo state will join the likes of Lagos And Abuja with the exception for the creation of Federal Medical Centre, InsidOyo.com understands.
Currently, there are more than 20 Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria. Most of the centers are situated in the State capital, especially in situations where teaching hospitals did not adequately meet the demands for specialist health care by the citizenry.
In Oyo State, University College Hospital (UCH) is oversubscribed and overwhelmed by patients, and the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) will help solve the health care challenges of one of the populated states in the country.
Findings by InsideOyo.com showed that Hon. Ajibola Muraina also sponsored a similar bill for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre in Igboora. The Bill, titled, “Federal Medical Centre Igboora (Establishment) Bill, 2019 (HB. 347),” was read at the first hearing on September 26, 2019.
Hon. Muraina represents Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
