The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has released a sum of N1.5 billion to the state ministry of health as part of his efforts to ensure that the residents of the state have access to good health care.
The state commissioner for health, Dr. Bashir Bello, disclosed this on Wednesday while declaring open Health Financing Technical Working Group Workshop on Health Care Financing Policy in Oyo state.
According to the commissioner, the Oyo state government will at the end of the two-day Health Roadmap workshop, adopt and implement the resolution of the strategy designed at the forum.
He, however, hinted at the plans of the Oyo state government to subsidized secondary health care in the state.
In his remarks, the program’s director, Dr. Gafar Alawode, said the roadmap for the health care financing project will span for the first five years after which it would be evaluated and modify.
Participants at the workshop who bared their minds on the importance of the health care financing roadmap in Oyo state said the project will address no pay, no care at private and public hospitals across the state.
