Oyo State government is yet to react to the landmark Supreme Court Judgement over tussle with the Association of Local Government (ALGON) Oyo state.
On Friday, the nullification of the sack by the Makinde-led Oyo government threw the political space of Oyo in frenzy with many hailing the decision of the Apex Court.
Reacting to the judgment, a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, commended Oyo ALGON.
He said ” I salute all members of Oyo ALGON led by Prince Abass Aleshinloye for their doggedness in this course.
“It is clear that a United Oyo APC can’t be defeated. I therefore beseech all party members to renew their hopes and eschew all differences as we strive to build a virile, democratic party.”
Also, House of Representatives Member, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe described the judgment by the Supreme Court, as a victory for Nigeria’s collective democracy.
The Apex Court had declared the sack of elected local governments chairmen in Oyo State by the state Governor, as null and void.
In a statement made available by her media aide, she said the judgement is a landmark achievement which will further strengthen democracy at the grassroots.
Hon. Akande-Sadipe, who represents Oluyole Federal Constituency congratulated the Prince Abass Alesinloye led ALGON, saluting the gallantry of the local government chairmen.
In a similar reaction, APC chieftain, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu saluted the courage and doggedness of ALGON Oyo state for this fight and the judgement vindicated Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi for conducting the election.
He, however, expressed concern over how government shunned and deliberately “wrong people and ask you to go to court knowing fully well that justice will be delayed.”
“I hope Oyo state Government will pay all the allowances and money due to our elected Chairmen and Councillors on time to relive them of the losses.”
