The First Lady of Oyo State, Engineer (Mrs.) Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, hosted an end-of-year party for women from across the state at the Government House, Ibadan.
The event featured the distribution of bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil, cash gifts, providing an opportunity for the women of Oyo State to celebrate and reflect on the year.
In her speech, the First Lady expressed her appreciation to the women of Oyo State for their unwavering support and dedication.
Mrs. Makinde emphasized that Christmas is a time for celebration and deep reflection on God’s goodness.
She urged the women to extend love and kindness by sharing with their neighbors and spending quality time with their families.
The First Lady also encouraged them to rest and relax during the festive period, highlighting the importance of self-care.
Her words: “We should use this period to reflect on what we have been through this year. We should be thankful and also use this moment to share with others no matter how little. It is important that we maximize this period. We shouldn’t depise humble beginnings, nothing is to small to share.
“I appreciate my husband, Engr Seyi Makinde for providing these items for the women. We decided to show love towards women because we know how important they are. Caring for women means caring for everybody that is why we are doing this today.
“I appreciate our mother for these gifts of food items and cash. We are indeed grateful for her kind gestures we pray that she will never lack.”
Also speaking, Mrs. Mosurat Abiola Sanda, wife of the ALGON Chairman in Oyo State, praised Mrs. Makinde for her commitment to supporting women.
She advised women to avoid overindulgence during the festive period.
Mrs. Olu Oyelade, President of the National Council for Women’s Societies, Oyo State Chapter, lauded the First Lady’s dedication to empowering women, describing her as a true role model.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for Special duties, Alhaja Joke Sanni, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun, Commissioner for Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke among others.
