Wife of the Oyo state governor, Mrs Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde has commissioned borehole projects for the use of residents of Mapo and Bode area of Ibadan South West Local Government area of the state.
The boreholes were built by the Oyo State Government, in collaboration with Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde Team (TOMT), Seyi Makinde Touching Lives, (SMTL), and Omituntun For Life Foundation.
The projects which is located at Mapo (Ibadan South West Constituency 1) and Bode (Ibadan South West Constituency 2) will see to the water needs of the areas.
Commissioning the projects on Wednesday, Mrs Makinde stated that the water project would reduce the burden of scouting for water.
She appreciated the support groups for their benevolence and support to the government. She charged the community to put the boreholes to effective use and proper management so as to ensure longevity.
Her words: โAs we all know, water is life. This will bring life to the people of this areas, as they wonโt have to buy water anymore. They now have access to treated water. This water projects will also be beneficial to them as it will help them during dry seasons to reduce their stress of struggling to get water. It will help to provide quality access to consumption of potable water in communities.
โWe however urged the communities to cultivate a good maintenance culture so that they will benefit from it for a long term, and when it develops fault, they can call us to help them out.โ
Also addressing the gathering, the Commissioner For Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof Dahud Sangodoyin stated that the project is in line with vision of the state governor, who is very passionate about the welfare of the people and want the best for the people
His words: โOne of the focuses of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in Nigeria and around the world is provision of water. The governor is touching lives by providing borehole for the people of Ibadan southeast, and we will do more for the people.
โPeople should expect more of these projects in the expansion of economy, health, education, security and we’ll being of the peopleโ
He therefore charged the beneficiaries to ensure sanity and cleanliness around the water facility.
Earlier, the wife of the Oyo State Governor donated a car to the support group of Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde Team (TOMT) to aid their transportation networks.
